10:53pm: Hello!
So, here is my very first livejournal entry. Woohoo.

This was my first week at Tu Kong martial arts school.
So right about now I am feeling uncoordinated, tight, weak, and clumsy.
My white belt hangs proudly from the knot that is different every time I tie it. The clothes still have creases.

I really like the school. The instructors are friendly, and the classes are hard but with intention. It's fun. Grandmaster Yi seems happy, and wise. It is a traditional Korean martial art, so there are lots of "Sir!s" and Korean words that sound like gibberish. It blends hard and soft styles, so kicking, punching, tai chi, bits of yoga and meditation, and has a wide range of training and weapons.

There is more agility training than anything I have done before. It is not as cardio intensive as bootcamp, and I am sore but not as sore when I started up at bootcamp after two months off. All the kicking and stretching is loosening up my legs, which is awkward right now, and a bit painful, but feels like it is probably good for them. I've never stretched my legs enough.

I may have to use the training to remove a threat, either a threat to me or a threat to someone close to me. At 34, I feel like I am of an average age in the classes, but I should have started this years ago. I kinda feel like everyone should have training like this, like everyone should have some massage training, it is good for living. No time like the present, I guess.
